Prominent Igbo businessman shot dead in Bauchi

A prominent Igbo businessman in Bauchi State, John Udeh also known as John Bosco was Wednesday murdered in front of his house at Federal Low-cost.

John was said to have been shot right in the presence of his wife who was in the front seat of their car while her husband was driving when the gunmen accosted them.

“When I heard his horn, I opened the gate then I heard gun shots and I ran back. He was about to drive in when he was shot,” Chimezie Ugwu, one of the deceased apprentices narrated what happened.

Fiday Uwakwe, another apprentice who followed Chimezie to open the gate for their ‘Oga’ at about 6 in the evening, said he too ran away when he heard gunshots as soon as they had opened the gate to let their boss drive in.

According to him, “Our madam was with him and two other apprentices were also in the car with them. We went to open the gate for them when we suddenly heard gunshot. Then I ran away. Later we heard Madam crying but before I came out the Audi car had left. One of our neighbours had rushed him to the hospital”

Elder brother of late John Bosco Solomon Udeh, decried the killing saying that the family is not ruling out an assassination.

“I feel very bad about it. I don’t have anything to say about the security situation in the state. He left behind four children and a wife. I don’t know what will happen to his children now. All I know is that my brother was assassinated,” Solomon said.

Efforts to get the police to react to the killing of John Bosco failed at the time of filing report.
Several calls and text message sent to the Public Relations Office of the command were not returned or replied. When our reporter went to the PPRO’s office, he was said to have been in a management meeting with the commissioner of police.
